LOI processing!!!

Our letter of Invitation to travel to Kazakhstan is being processed which means we are likely to travel the first part of May! That also means we've been enrolled in "travel bootcamp" as it happened quicker than anyone suspected. Travel date to follow!

Where has the year gone?

It's hard to believe that we started this journey waaaayyyy back in January of 2008. Now, over a year later, we are anxiously awaiting our LOI (Letter of Invitation to travel), which is expected within the next few weeks (we hope!)

We have done a poor job of keeping everyone informed - sorry! Here is a synopsis of where we've been and where we're at now:

01-08 Started the process of choosing a country and interviewing agencies, going to meetings, etc.
03-08 Signed on with Little Miracles International for adoption from Kazakhstan (over there by the rest of the "stans" for those of us geographically challenged!) of a 6 mo to 3 1/2 year old.
05-08 Recieved our I-171H form from the feds telling us to go for it.
06-08 Started what we thought would be the easiest process - the homestudy....
08-08 Finally after over 2 months and many e-mails the home study agency completed thier part - now for the really fun part - collecting all those pesky dossier documents!
12-08 Dossier complete!!!! Now for the apostille and other legal mumbo jumbo...
02-09 Dossier in the Kazakhstan consulate - we're on our way now! Only 9-12 more months to go... ugh.
03-09 New development - a 4 year old? Ok, why not! But what do you mean be ready to travel in 2 months??????
04-09 Travel dossier, court paperwork, embassy paper work all complete - we truly are in a waiting mode now.

So there you go in a nutshell, the reason we've been so crazy for the last year!

I expect our next entry will be when we get the LOI and have a date to travel, but with this blog started that's one more thing to tick off my list. (and those of you that know me well - I LOVE lists) Stay tuned folks!
